Those of you that know me personally understand that I love the outdoors. I have been enjoying hunting and fishing for many years now and my family has even learned to enjoy those things too. It may just be that they came to the conclusion of “if you can’t beat him, join him” I am not sure, but none the less, they go with me. I must admit that I have to constantly make adjustments on my focus. I love being a Husband, Daddy, and Pastor! I thank God for the wife that I have, she is without a doubt my soulmate. I love the three kids that God is allowing us to rear, they are a blessing. I find however, especially this time of year, my desire to grab my bow or gun and head to the woods. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that, but if I am not careful, the sport that I love will begin to capture all of my attention. The chess match with that big buck becomes a competition that I too often lose, which makes me want to pursue even harder. Psa 25:15 tells us “Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.” I find that it is very healthy to have hobbies, the problem is when those hobbies become a necessity. The only necessity we need is the loving grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. Everything else is just a bonus. May we keep our eyes on The Lord and his perfect will for our lives.
